School swimming sports.

Today on the 27th of February our school hosted and participated in our swimming sports.
We had performances for each age group, Year 1 and 2, year 2 and 3 and last we had my age group Year 4,5 and 6.
After our performances we had heats (races) We first had 2 freestyle heats with windmill arms.
After that we then had 1 backstroke heat. After our fabulous effort we all jumped into the pool and started making a Ms kelly whirlpool. Then it got even more fun when noodles were thrown in the pool. It was a mess! Noodles and balls flying everywhere, kids rushing past each other! After the Ms kelly whirlpool we all clambered out of the pool and got dressed. I had a lot of fun today.

Interschool Athletics

On the 3rd of December A.P.S and other primary schools from Nelson came together for Athletics at Saxton oval. The six events were long jump, 800m run, 100m sprints, high jump, tennis ball throw and  last but not least the quoits throw. I liked the high jump but the most challenging was 800m run. 100m sounds long but it doesn’t look long. I enjoyed all of the sports events.

Athletic Recount

Yesterday, on the third of December, most of Nile room traveled to the Saxton Oval by car to compete against some other Primary Schools in the Interschool Athletics. There were 7 activities: high jump, Quoits, tennis ball throw, sprints, long jump, 800 metres and our last event relay. I think that the hardest part for me was the high jump. I still had a great time :)

Nile Room at Wangapeka Camp

This is me crashing into a log
Two weeks ago some kids in Nile class went on camp to the Wangapeka River. We did so much that I don’t know where to start,..... The most challenging part  was the sleeping because it was so freezing cold that I just stayed up all night hearing all the sounds. The exciting part was going on the go-karts. I went on them three time but the last time was hard because every time I got to the corner I got stuck on a log. Mr Green had to help me back on to the track again, the same thing happened to Lewis as well. After all the racing it was time for tea. We had burgers and for dessert we had bananas with chocolate in them cooked on the campfire, I did not like them very much. The next day I saw a horse, I was the first one to go on the horse and take a ride but I was too shy to get on it so I just went swimming. After swimming we came back to Auckland point school and I felt relieved that I was back at school. I had a great time at camp and lots of fun.

Go - Karts at Camp

VRRRRRRRRRRRRRROWWWWWH!!!!
I sped off in the Go - Kart!! The Track went past me in a blur, I was having so much fun,  then....
SMASH!!!!
I whacked into Rueben’s Go - Kart, he was going soooooooooo sssssslooooooow!! So slow that even a snail could beat him!!
I stopped throttling the little Go - Kart’s Motor and waited until Rueben got to the other end of the track then... VRRRRRRRROWWWWM!!!!!!!!! I zoomed over the bumps and holes and then I came up behind Rueben. I started coughing a lot because Rueben got the Motorbike helmet and I got a safety helmet. I think I should have had the Motorbike helmet because Rueben had no dust. After our turn was over, Mr Green (who was the man running the Go - Karts) said I could have 2 laps without dust. After my 2 laps I had to get out of the Go - Kart. I had a great time at camp :)

Kori Visits APS

On Friday the Swimsafe people came to APS to talk to us about safety around water. They talked about being safe at the pool, the river, the beach, and in boats.. We learnt that life jackets have to fit properly to be safe. When putting on a life jacket we need to remember to “Zip it, click it, pull it, check it!”. If someone is in trouble in the water you should get a rope, throw it to them and get down and pull them in. It was fun playing the  safety game and at the end we all gave Kori a high-five. We also all got a Swimsafe tattoo and colouring in sheet.
